A Seed Was Planted

Two years ago, Glenna Butts, owner of Ewe & Company in downtown Kingston Springs, said, “Hey, this town needs a farmers market.” The city’s parking lot seemed a good spot for it, but that space was part of a long-term lease with CSX that didn’t allow multiple uses for the lot. About that time, we were looking for a use for the land the city acquired after the Great Flood of 2010, next to the middle school, where three homes were lost. Given what occurred there, the logical choice was to turn it into a city park. My wife, Joy, and I put our heads together with Marie Spafford at Community Bank & Trust; we had found our place for a Kingston Springs farmers market.
